While this coastal Del Mar resort has forever been a landmark of Del Mar luxury – from hospitality to dining and entertainment – the spa wasn’t always given the credit it deserved. Previously located beneath the central resort lobby in an area without windows or fresh air, the spa – though home to some of the most lavish treatments and talented estheticians in town – was limited in atmosphere and overall spa experience.

Making a big splash in the Del Mar beauty scene, the new L’Auberge Del Mar Spa is nothing like you’ve seen in San Diego. Don’t expect dim lighting, subtle décor or peaceful surrounding shades – L’Auberge introduces a whole new spa concept where guests are encouraged to bask in bright sun-lit spaces energized with sounds and scenes of the ocean. 

No longer hidden below the resort surface, the new spa is housed in a separate beach cottage on the resort’s south side along 15th Street. Vibrant pops of orange, blue and yellow paint the new spa interior, intermingling with exposed wooden ceilings, retro surfboards, beach lifestyle décor, and eclectic accent walls such as textured lime green waves and a full paradise beach scene. Adjacent to the rest area, an outdoor lounge with a pebble fireplace seats guests in bright orange chairs under the warm sun. This bright and beachy setting awakens guests to a new kind of spa-going experience.

As can be expected, the menu at L’Auberge Del Mar Spa is vast, varied and ridiculously indulgent. Choose from Seaside Sojourns, Body Treatments, Skincare and Facial Specialties, Spa Packages, Massage Therapies, and Couple’s Suite Selections. Each of the signature body rituals invokes the cultures and traditions of the far away destinations. 

For example, discover the Polynesian Journey Seaside Sojourn:

Coconut pulp and sea salts glide over your skin, gently exfoliating it. You are then cocooned in a coconut and spirulina ointment, reminding you of the sensation of lying on the beach, gently warmed by the sun rays. Next, a blue lagoon gel metamorphoses the body wrap into a marvelous massage cream. Your therapist will follow the slow, harmonious and enveloping gestures of the Lomi Lomi massage. Relaxed and soothed, you experience a feeling of total well-being in an atmosphere of seductive Polynesian fragrances.
