Cosmetic Dentistry Spring Cleaning Tips

Posted On : 3/8/2011 by Ryan Eisenacher

From a young age, we are taught the importance of brushing our teeth at least twice a day, avoiding plaque buildup by flossing, and visiting the dentist at least once a year for checkups. Unfortunately, as we grow into adulthood, we sometimes lapse on the upkeep of our pearly whites due to busy work and social schedules, lack of insurance, or simply the fear of setting foot inside a dentist’s office.

Luckily, Mission Boulevard Dental Group is making it easier than ever to finally achieve the smile of your dreams.

With the spring season in our midst, it’s time to purge yourself of bad habits and treat your teeth to a good old fashioned cleansing. After all, recent industry research suggests that the health of your mouth mirrors the condition of your body as a whole, so what are you waiting for?

Nowadays, thanks to the advances in modern cosmetic dentistry, we are able to improve our smile with quick, painless and surprisingly affordable treatments. Dr. Andrew De Meyer and Dr. Kyle Gernhofer of Mission Boulevard Dental group provide every client with exceptional care while enhancing the natural beauty of your smile with conservative, state-of-the-art procedures. The goal is never to oversell; they put education first and treat every patient like family. Refresh your smile and confidence this season with Mission Boulevard Dental Group.

Spring Cleaning: Discover three cosmetic dental procedures recommended for a bright and healthy smile.

Porcelain Veneers: Alternatively termed dental veneers or dental porcelain laminates, porcelain veneers are custom-designed wafer-thin shells of porcelain that are bonded onto the front side of teeth to cover worn tooth enamel, uneven tooth alignment or spacing, and chips or cracks. Many patients choose porcelain veneers for cosmetic surgery in order to correct teeth that are too large or too small, conceal severely discolored or stained teeth, reshape crooked or misshapen teeth, or simply to achieve a uniform, white, beautiful smile.

Tooth Whitening: It’s no surprise that having shiny pearly whites is the number one aesthetic concern of dental patients. And why shouldn’t it be? A beautiful smile is essential to good health and sense of confidence. Commonly referred to as bleaching, tooth whitening is a simple, non-invasive treatment that enhances your smile by artificially changing the color of your natural tooth enamel. Most people use tooth whitening for a variety of cosmetic reasons, the most common including Fluorosis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development), normal wear of outer tooth layer, and discoloration from harmful lifestyle vices such as coffee, cigarettes, and alcohol. Since tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings or crowns so that replacement of any restorations can be done after bleaching in order to match your newly bleached teeth.

Dental Implants: For individuals who want to replace missing teeth and provide a fixed solution to having removable partial or complete dentures, dental implants may just be the perfect solution.  Dental implants are artificial roots and teeth (usually titanium) that are surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bone that can be used to support a number of dental prostheses, including crowns, implant-supported bridges or dentures. Most often patients will acquire dental implants in order to restore one or more missing teeth, resolve joint pain or bite problems, support a bridge or denture to make it more comfortable and secure, or simply to revitalize a healthy and confident smile.

Dental Implants

What is the time frame on the dental implants? Basically my question is, I know that there is some time before you have the final implant and I was wondering if you had an uncovered implant for 6 months until the real one is in place or is it a faster time frame before the implant is in place?
