The ladies of North County now have a new beauty destination in Leucadia.
Leu Leu Beauty Bar is a two-in-one salon concept, offering organic nail care, haircuts and blow-outs. The woman to thank is Chai Collins, a savvy 25-year-old San Diego native that believes in the business of beauty. Collins isn’t a stylist, but the Pepperdine graduate is lacing her love of salon life with her marketing expertise to pave a new career path. After graduate school in London, Collins returned home to open up shop.
Leu Leu occupies two pastel-hued units along N. Coast Highway 101, divided for nails and hair. Natural light sweeps through the airy spaces, with large windows, vibrant teal walls, restored white vintage furniture and crystal chandeliers. The ultra-fem teal and pink striped accent walls are sure to get you in the mood for Leu Leu’s signature ice cream pedicures. You can’t eat the candy-looking ‘bombs’ that fizz with color and scent into your spa pedicure water, but Collins keeps real cupcakes and cookies within hand’s reach for sugar fix emergencies.
For your nail needs, all services come with at least one mixer, ranging from ice cream fizz, to a marshmallow foot mask, vanilla sugar scrub and callus remover treatment. There are four levels of mani/pedi options, starting with the Eco Express ($18/$25), and moving up to the Gel Deluxe, which includes soak, shape, cuticle care, polish change, mixers and Shellac or Gelish application, for fast-drying, long-lasting color ($35/$45).
Leu Leu carries a fun spread of polishes, with unique shades and eco-conscious brands. And don’t think it stops there; manicurists are playful and knowledgeable, ready to meet any challenge and preach on any trend. During my experience, I discovered chevron, and made it my own with gold triangles over shiny black gel.
Leu Leu Beauty Bar is located at 1200-1204 N. Coast Highway 101 in Leucadia. Stay tuned for November grand opening party details. For more information, call 760.230.2571 or visit leuleubeautybar.com
Insider Tip: The new Leucadia building, which locals say resembles a bunch of boats in line, is also welcoming a brow bar tenant this fall. Nails, hair and brows in one chic stop? Yes please.
