When you live in a coastal city surrounded by swaying palms, it’s hard to figure out exactly when autumn has arrived. Rather than gaze down the road, we San Diegans must use our imagination and resort to scenes from our favorite movies. Cue the fall hues sweeping through Sassafras and sugar maple trees, creating a gentle storm of vibrant auburn leaves cascading through the frost bit afternoon air. The clouds are dark, but the invigorating energy lights up the sky.
From the downtown harbor to the Pacific Beach pier, our beloved summer landmarks try their best to hide the onset of autumn. Yet there are a few local destinations that are ripe with the rich flavors of fall. Just head east, and then keep going.
The Rancho Bernardo Inn is a luxury resort that offers an escape from the typical beach-chic SoCal atmosphere. Leave your flip-flops behind and prepare for lush, colorful foliage, rustic fireplace lounges, seasonal fine dining, and fall-inspired spa services.
The Spa at Rancho Bernardo Inn goes above and beyond to usher in the new season, now offering a new menu of flavorful treatments designed to get you in the holiday spirit. Who says organic fruits, veggies and sweet desserts are only for cooking in the kitchen? The Spa’s signature Made Fresh Daily Package is themed ‘Sangria Sensation’ for fall, and incorporates three mini treatments, paired with a finale spirit. Indulge your sweet tooth with a cranberry orange scrub, apple wine mud masque, and vanilla orange massage, enhanced with a glass of house-made Sangria. The package is 80-minutes long and priced at $180.
Also new and ideal for a girls spa day, the Sugar and Spice Nail Package incorporates a 20-minute manicure and 50-minute pedicure enhanced with a warm apple spice scrub or masque, and paired with an apple spice beverage. This package is 70 minutes long and priced at $99.
The Spa’s fall menu updates are inspired by San Diego-based Kimberly Parry Organics, a new certified organic skincare line that was created exclusively for Rancho Bernardo Inn. More new body treatments utilizing Kimberly Perry Organics include a peppermint & lemon body scrub and elderberry & sage body wrap.
