In a time where many businesses are trying to stay afloat without compromising philosophies, it’s nice to hear that the majority of local spas are still maintaining business and adding to their ever-growing clientele. Discover what’s new in San Diego beauty.
Facelogic, a national day spa franchise, opened its first San Diego location in Carlsbad this March. Its “Affordable Luxury” philosophy offered 2 for 1 facials as its Grand Opening special and continues to offer $49 signature facials to new customers. Facelogic also offers peels, masks, microdermabrasion, waxing, lip and eye treatments and make up applications.
New to Pacific Beach is Renew Integrative Health Center – a health care facility that merges traditional western medicine with alternative health care for a progressive approach to wellbeing. Renew takes a holistic approach to health care and is sure to become a staple in the Pacific Beach community. (pictured)
Locals are still basking in the revamp of the Spa at L’Auberge Del Mar, which made its debut earlier this year. No longer buried underneath the resort, the spa relocated to a private cottage and boasts a retro beach theme and sundrenched motif throughout the new space. The Spa uses organic ingredients, including exotic oils and florals from across the world. Get details here.
One of the newest luxury spas in San Diego is the Southeast Asian-inspired Sè Spa. The Sè Spa beautifully blends old world treatments with new health and wellness techniques to their spa menu. The spa offers nail care, massage, facials and body treatments, making it the only full-service spa in the downtown area. Book a treatment and take advantage of the steam showers, snacks and teas in the relaxation room and access to the pool and fitness area. (pictured left)
There definitely must be something in the waters of OB because both of the most-prized spas in Ocean Beach are expanding and adding onto their service menu to keep up with their growing list of clients. The Sanctuary has expanded and added massage and medical treatments to the menu. Owner Tracy Duhs prides herself on researching and finding the best products and treatments on the market and offers them to her clients in San Diego. Drop by and check out new products from Jennifer Aniston aesthetician’s new line Enessa, Eclipse chocolate, Elizabeth Van Buren aromatherapy and Muzi organic teas.
Another flourishing OB day spa is The Hidden Spa. After several months of renovations, the spa is on the home stretch and expects the expansion to be completed in the next few weeks. The hidden jem will now offer acupuncture, organic nail care, additional treatment rooms, private rooms for spa parties and an expanded boutique. Drop by in a few weeks and take advantage of their new look and menu.
Sadly, in this economic crunch, not all spas are thriving. Pukalani Day Spa in Del Mar shut its doors earlier this year. The two-story, 5,600 square foot space was best known for its “men only” barber shop and internationally inspired rituals. The Del Mar institution will be greatly missed. Another recent closure is Elena’s Hair. Co., located in Heritage Towne Center in Otay Ranch.
La Jolla’s D. Lovely Day Spa also closed its doors this year on February 21st. The spa was in business for two and a half years and offered facials, massages, body treatments, waxing, nail care and make up applications. Co-owners Debbie and Katie have since opened KD Massage and Skin Care in North Park.
Further north, there’s a buzz in the beauty industry that Palms Day Spa in Carlsbad is looking for a new buyer. The spa has been at its current location for more than eight years.
