Many nail salons provide in and out services in a busy environment, which defeats the relaxation aspect of the beauty experience.
Salon 2141 is different. Located in Point Loma, Salon 2124 is a mini day spa that provides a warm and inviting environment. With burgundy and beige plush chairs and couches, candles and curtains, it gives you the feeling you might be at a girlfriend's house rather than a neighborhood nail salon. Calming pictures of tulips, lotuses, and dancers decorate the walls. The art is for sale along with natural stone jewelry, soaps, and lotions.
Manicurist Lorraine Greenwood took over ownership last March, but has been doing nails in the Point Loma area for over ten years. Clients receiving pedicures sit in an overstuffed chair and are offered a soda, coffee, or even a glass of wine. Greenwood uses a homemade scrub made from oil and sugar to thoroughly massage the feet and lower legs. She says she hopes to provide each client with a relaxing experience and emphasizes communication is key when receiving nail services.
The Salon 2141 team is made up of eight women who provide the complete mini spa experience. Aside from manicures and pedicures, they offer massage and esthetic services.
Along with traditional Swedish and aromatherapy massages, the salon offers special prenatal massages to expectant mothers to relieve neck and lower back pain and prepare the birth muscles.
It is also one of the only salons in San Diego that offers threading, an ancient Middle Eastern technique of shaping the eyebrows by using a piece of knotted thread to remove hair. Unlike waxing, it does not peel off a layer of skin and the hair does not grow back as fast.
Salon 2124 provides pampering facials without the primo prices of overnight spas. An hour and 15 minutes of attention is given to the face with either a Customized, Vitamin C, or Beta Ex Peel facial starting at $80.
