New La Costa Resort Spa Experience

We seek refuge at the spa to escape stress, recover from an injury, or to prepare for a special occasion, among many reasons to justify an afternoon of pure pampering. Above all else, the spa is a haven of relaxation where you can cleanse your body and clear your mind.

Many San Diego spas have good intentions, but tend to lose touch with the simplicity of serenity in trying to stay up with the latest health and beauty trends. How can you expect me to relax if I suffer a minor panic attack while just trying to read through the 20-page spa menu? Rather than trying to do it all, recognize your strengths, honor your clientele, and get back to the basics.

La Costa Resort and Spa recently underwent a $50 million renovation, during which the entire property received a modern facelift, the second head-to-toe makeover since its opening in 1965. Recently recognized as the #1 Resort Spa in Southern California by Spa Magazine, The Spa at La Costa is one of the resort’s most incredible amenities, and is a destination all its own, boasting 28,000 square feet of indoor space and a 15,000-square-foot outdoor courtyard, which is now home to the new Reflexology Path. In addition to fresh design updates, The Spa at La Costa utilized the transformation period to redefine its purpose and to introduce a new, simplified spa menu. Like many other older spas, La Costa had continually changed over the years to add on new treatments, resulting in a lengthy and slightly overwhelming menu. During the renovation, The Spa rediscovered its sense of self and recommitted to local indigenous natural elements, from the resort’s citrus and herb gardens to the tranquil Pacific Ocean.

The new La Costa spa experience invites guests to indulge in regionally inspired signature treatments hand crafted with high grade essential oils, including the Citrus Renewal, Aromatherapy Rain Massage, Bamboo Fusion Massage, Berry Bliss Slimming Wrap, Luminous C to Sea Facial, Restorative Facial, Tea-Tox Trio, and Mediterranean Spa Journey, among others.

Stand-out treatments include the Bamboo Fusion Massage, during which an invigorating bamboo exfoliating scrub is followed by a massage with stalks of warmed bamboo that are rolled over the muscles’ soothing aches and pains, increasing circulation and providing a sense of deep relaxation; and the Citrus Renewal Body Treatment, which combines an apricot exfoliation and a hydrating mandarin grapefruit and sweet lime green tea body wrap, with a light mandarin grapefruit body butter massage. For the ultimate in organic relaxation, opt for the Mediterranean Spa Journey, which features a desert sage body polish with organic wild sage, lavender and rosemary, followed by a rich shea butter massage scented with Spanish herbs, and finally a warm Mediterranean floral body wrap paired with a kukui nut, lavender and pink grapefruit-scented oil scalp treatment. New massage and body treatments start at $155, maintaining old menu pricing.

Reconnect with the natural core of the North County coastline at the new La Costa Resort and Spa. More spa amenities include 42 treatment rooms, the full-service salon, a spa boutique, fitness training studios, a private spa pool, Jacuzzi, al fresco waterfall shower, lounging areas, a Spa Café, and the Reflexology Path and Herb Garden.
