While commitments to our health and well-being should persist all year long, it’s typically the first month of the year when we reset goals and reassess priorities.
Though unassuming in nature, Encinitas is one of the top fitness and health meccas in the county. Downtown Encinitas alone has all the marks of a thriving health hot spot with three personal training gyms, a Pilates studio, six yoga studios, five fitness-related merchandisers, six general wellness and holistic health businesses, seven chiropractors as well as dentists and general medical practitioners.
In embracing these unique businesses that compose the city, as well as giving a push to your New Year’s resolutions, Wellness Week in Encinitas returns for its second annual celebration of all things health. From Jan. 22nd-28th, Wellness Week offers free fitness and health classes, as well as educational workshops at numerous wellness-based merchants in Encinitas. Organized by the Downtown Encinitas MainStreet Association (DEMA), the weeklong event invites anyone with an inch of interest to learn more about taking care of their mind, body, and soul.
And just because you might already live a healthy lifestyle doesn’t make you void of trying something new. Whether that means exploring a new kind of yoga or getting the inside scoop on what really goes on in an acupuncture session, Wellness Week is all about broadening horizons and finding inventive ways to challenge yourself.
The schedule of events open to the community begins on Jan. 22nd, kicking off with an Opening Day Expo at the Encinitas Library. Here, locals can sample acupuncture, chiropractic care and Reiki, with mini-treatments offered at regular intervals, see yoga, Pilates and cooking demonstrations, and get free health screenings and exams. Every morning of the week, try out a free entry-level class at Yoga Tropics from 8:30-10am, and again from 12-1pm. Various specialty classes offered throughout the week include Toddler Yoga, Preschool Yoga, Zumba, Introduction to Chiropractic Medicine, Eat, Move and Think Well! presentation by Dr. Ryan Caringola, True Chiropractic, and Tibetan Sound Healing by Diane Mandle. On Saturday, Jan. 28th, locals can enjoy the Closing Day Festival at Moonlight Beach from 10am to 2pm.
Take major steps towards achieving new goals and try out the free classes, get complimentary exams, and save money on a diverse range of wellness-related products and services. For more information on Wellness Week and a full schedule of events, please visit encinitas101.com
