So maybe you and yours are San Diego transplants, or maybe you grew up
going to Sea World for field trips. In any case, it’s tempting to dismiss all
thing “typical SD” as being too touristy. But there’s no better way to discover
America’s Finest City
than by playing tourist for a day. Don’t worry - Hawaiian shirts and fanny
packs are by no means required – or encouraged.
Amusement Parks
There’s a reason tourists flock to the Sea World, to the World
Famous San Diego Zoo, and to its cousin, the Wild Animal
Park – because they’re
fun!! Tuck away your native pride, cough up the admission fees, and indulge in
San Diego’s famous amusement parks.
Historic Park of Old
Town
Sure, you can find margaritas the size of small bird baths
here, but Old Town is also known for its historical elements. You’ll find
original adobes that contain shops, museums, a blacksmith shop, a schoolhouse,
and San Diego’s first newspaper office. Be sure to check out the Whaley House –
the most haunted house in the United States. Maybe you’ll need one of those
margaritas when you’re done touring the ghost-inhabited dwelling.
Balboa Park
Balboa Park offers more than psychics strewn along the
pathways. The Rueben
H. Fleet Science Center offers educational entertainment and its IMAX
theatre offers a unique spin on the traditional movie date. Pack a picnic and
find a grassy spot to sit and absorb the San Diego sun. You just may fall in
love with San Diego
all over again.
