Dave & Busters: The Ultimate First-Date Destination

Published : 1/24/2007 by Michelle Guerin

Not sure whether your gal gushes at wild adventure, or warm-and-fuzzy sensitivity? Wipe that worry off your face (trust us, it's not the sexiest look in the book). Dave & Busters is the ultimate first date spot for all prospering romantics in San Diego. This all-occasion environment caters to every first-date necessity—including an exceedingly lively atmosphere to conquer even the longest awkward silence.

Can't play on an empty stomach? Dave & Busters' Grand Dining Room offers deliciously un-carnivalesque classics. Start out with the tempura fried button mushrooms, followed by the Huli Huli char-grilled Atlantic salmon filet glazed with Hawaiian ginger sesame sauce. If thirsty is your new hungry, the Viewpoint Bar's sophisticated-but-fun menu boasts 50 signature cocktails. The "Million Dollar Margarita" is sure to rouse your natural skeeball spark, mixing Sauza Hornitos 100% Blue Agaves tequila with Tuaca and Grand Mariner. After this flagship cocktail, stroll D&B's Midway and let the games begin.

Take notes Donkey Kong, "D&B Downs" is an automated racing game that encourages horseplay. You and frisky Ms. Pacman can compete in this heart-pounding automated racing game apt to make Del Mar proud. To set a more-mellow mood, try out D&B's world class pocket billiards. Cruise through a traditional game or request the official handbook for more exotic games. Show off your skills in the Million Dollar Midway, and then cash in your golden tickets for a lush teddy bear for the lady. And if your Princess turns out to be a dud, D&B's 20-screen video dome blasting non-stop sports action is quite a satisfying alternative to the tantalizing tower maze. Let loose, eat, drink, play and score a perfect first date.

D&B has my heart

i think that the thing i like most about dave and busters is the fact that you can go there with your friends one night and go hang out with your family there the next day. . . my parents love playing games there, and my little bro loves the ski ball. if you're under 21, make sure you have someone over 25 with you or else they won't let you in!

Forget first dates - go for the bachelor parties!

Coming from a conservative background, my buddy couldn't get too roudy and raunchy for his bachelor party last month. So, we turned to D&B and had a helluva good time drinking beer and shootin' pool. I can't imagine taking someone here on a first date (maybe the third or fourth, for sure) but taking my home boy out on his last night of freedom was a sure bet.
