This holiday season we are all especially concerned about saving money. A great way to save money is to make sure you buy the right holiday gift.
The right gift will save you money, and may save your relationship as well. Here are a few tips from the San Diego Dating Guru on what not to buy your girlfriend.
Lingerie
I cannot say it enough, lingerie is a gift for you, not her. To be safe, do not even enter Victoria's Secret. However, if you must, the only acceptable gift would be made of fleece and contain no lace.
Gadgets
Anything that requires a battery falls into this category. Get your mind out of the gutter - I am talking about electronics. Nothing is less sentimental than a generic mp3 player or book light. Unless your girlfriend has specifically stated that she really wants a new iPhone from you, don't go for any gadgets.
Gift Cards
Nothing says: "I really don't know you that well" like a gift card. A gift card is a present your Great Aunt Mildred buys you. And just in case it's not already evident, cash is always out of the question.
Cleaning or Cooking Supplies
Never get your girlfriend any device or product used for home maintenance. Trust me, it is never a romantic gesture.
As a final rule, I want to state that any gift that could have a practical use is forbidden. Gifts should indulge and endear. There is nothing romantic about anything practical.
Insider Tip: Also consider giving the gift of experience. Surprise her with a romantic hotel room and party package at one of the best 2009 New Years Eve parties in San Diego.
