Extraordinary Desserts: Enough Said!

Published : 1/24/2007 by Michelle Guerin

Extraordinary Desserts is making a huge splash in the banana split realm of old-fashioned dating. In the class before Dating 101, young gents learned that gals love dessert. One chocolate milkshake, one jammin' jukebox and two straws equaled the classic date. A bit of bad news: times have changed. Although dating is no longer as simple as debating whether or not to give her your pin, one thing has remained the same– gals still love dessert.

The chic urban-meets-regal patisserie is the new it ice-cream parlor. Extraordinary Desserts offers jaw-dropping delicacies fit to make any dessert-lovers' dream come true. Sweet-toothed proprietor Karen Krasne studied her craft at Cordon Bleu in France, and jets back regularly to keep her homemade goods right-on-trend. Bling baubles from Kranse's travels decorate the sleek corridors. Each Italian cake knife and Provencal soap radiates with an elegant global charisma, only topped by the stars of the show themselves: the desserts.

Here's the lineup. The extraordinary goods include fruit tarts, crème brulee, cobbler, mousses, tortes, cookies and ice-cream. Garnished with fresh flowers, fruits and imported chocolates, these desserts are both visually spectacular and intense in flavor. Try the Crime Brulee Aux Fruits Rouge, tart shells painted with white chocolate then filled with vanilla crème brulee and topped with fresh berries--pair with a Kona coffee or fine wine. Diving into these delectable delicacies is sure to spur a romantic vibe between you and your lucky date.

A little hard to find at first!

So I had to go on a little bit of a search to find Extraordinary Desserts. My mom told me about it so I had to go check it out for myself. After 10 minutes of walking around we finally found it and boy, was it worth it. It was in a really quaint space and the creme bruleee was to die for. Now that I know where it is, I'll be sure to check it out when i'm in the area.

If you like the creme brulee...

...then go for the pavlova whenever they make it! With a mixture of fruit underneath, the baked marshmallowy top is the perfect contrast for a wonderful taste. The only thing to do is to decide which ice cream goes best with it!
