Why take a romantic vacation outside San Diego? With the following local itineraries, you can easily pretend that you're on a weekend getaway for two. Make a plan, pack your bags, take a short drive, and let the romantic rendezvous in San Diego begin!
Follow the lead of other vacationers and spend a weekend enjoying the endless amenities within the Gaslamp Quarter.
As the San Diego Dating Guru, I recommend a hotel in the south end, either the Omni or the Manchester Grand Hyatt. If you're looking for a boutique experience, check into Ivy or The Keating. Start the night off with a sunset stroll to Galileo 101 for appetizers and happy hour. Then enjoy a romantic dinner at one of the many San Diego restaurants downtown, such as Quarter Kitchen, Island Prime, and Dussini Mediterranean Bistro.
To spark the end of evening romance, enjoy dessert and drinks at the Top of the Hyatt while taking in the wonderful view of the San Diego bay. The next morning, a hearty breakfast at Richard Walker's Pancake House and a walking tour of Seaport Village will end the mini-vacation on the right note.
If downtown doesn't sound exactly right, try a seaside location to realize what really puts San Diego on the map. A night at the Hotel del Coronado makes for a perfect romantic get-away. Take advantage of the all that Coronado Island has to offer by indulging at the Spa at the Del, dining at the five-star restaurants, and taking walks around Coronado village and along the beautiful beaches.
Wherever it is you decide to go, make it relaxing and romantic. Bon voyage!
