Pacific Beach
A simple stroll down Garnet Avenue at
any time of day will put you in contact with hordes of hotties, clad
chiefly in bikinis and board shorts. They crowd the restaurants, dip
in and out of the shops, and fill the beach bars nightly. Some of the
most obvious places to search for a new significant other are Pacific
Beach Bar & Grill, Typhoon Saloon, The Tavern, Moondoggie’s,
and Tower 23. However, in Pacific Beach, you’ll find
just as many singles at the local Denny’s in the dead on night, or
spread out on the nearby sunny sands.
The Gaslamp Quarter
Singles and their seekers are a driving
force behind Gaslamp’s popularity. Every month seems to herald the
opening of a brand new bar or nightclub, soon to be filled with those
eagerly hoping to meet their match.
But which do you choose? It depends on
who you’re trying to meet. Successful singles in their thirties and
forties are found at Jimmy Love’s, The Bitter End, Croce’s,
and Galileo 101. The young and moneyed frequent expensive bigger
clubs like Belo, Stingaree, Visions, On Broadway, and Deco’s.
Gaslamp is also home to a variety of smaller bars and pubs catering
to the less pretentious crowd, like Tivoli Bar, The Field,
Hennessey’s, and Star Bar.
Mission Beach Boardwalk
The party isn’t under the boardwalk
in the supreme summerland of Mission Beach—it’s on top of it, and
all around it. Sunshine is the only ruling power, and singles rush to
the cement strip bordering the silvery sands from dawn til dusk.
Although the are is studded with a number of bars, among them Canes
Bar and Grill, Coaster Saloon, Beachcomber, The Liars’ Club, and
The Wave House, the best place for singles-seekers is the
sands themselves.
