2008 Monster Bash Haunts Gaslamp on Halloween Night

Published : 10/7/2008 by Michelle Guerin

San Diego Monster Bash 2008 is slated to be the best block party to ever hit the Gaslamp Quarter.

On Friday, October 31st, from 6pm to midnight, Southern Comfort presents the Dos Equis XX Monster Bash - or, graveyard bash - on the outskirts of the Gaslamp at 7th Avenue between Market and J Streets and at Island Avenue between 6th and 8th Avenues. With the streets blocked off, this party is ready to let loose.

Monster Bash is known for live entertainment and an infamous costume contest with sky-high cash prizes. The main stage welcomes the energetic dance hits and classic cover songs of the Disco Pimps from 6:30-7:30pm, followed by top 40 hits from The Trip from 8-9:15pm and the electro-pop beats of Electric Valentine from 9:45-11pm. As the live bands come to an end, the infamous Costume Contest takes over the spotlight.

At 11pm, the $3,000 Cash Costume Contest commands the main stage, entertained with electro and hip hop beats from DJ Brent Bartel and DJ G*Roy. After you see your favorite costumes win the big prizes, creep on over to the Day of the Dead Stage with Channel 93.3's DJ Marc Thraser, DJ Miss Lisa and more.

From beer and cocktail gardens to numerous live bands and DJs and your chance to win $3,000 cash for the best Halloween costume in San Diego - you can't miss the 2008 San Diego Monster Bash in Gaslamp.

VIP Alert: For those San Diego party-goers looking for the ultimate VIP pass, we highly recommend you opt for the VIP Mansion Package. In the Mansion, enjoy private restroom with attendant, one complimentary drink, tray passed appetizers from 7-9pm, three private bars, a private DJ, and limited availability for crowd control.

Get your tickets early online for $20; tickets will be $25 at the door. Event proceeds will benefit the Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation. Get more information and San Diego Monster Bash tickets here.

Onyx Does Not Honor Monster Bash Wristbands

A group of us waited in line for Onyx on Halloween because it was listed on the Monster Bash brochure with free admission before 10pm. We were at the front of the line by 9:40 and the guys at the front were telling us that we had to pay $10 cover. WTF? Even after showing the brochure to the people, they still insisted that we pay a cover charge. Onyx SHOULD BE REMOVED from the list because they DO NOT HONOR any agreements with party planners! On top of that, the people who were working the doors were rude. I am disappointed in the way that they treat customers. I will NEVER go to Onyx again.
