In conjunction with the annual Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter Association presents the inaugural Battle of the Bands on Sunday, December 21st, parade and battle starting at 6pm.

The Poinsettia Bowl Battle of the Bands in San Diego is scheduled to take place just two days before the popular Poinsettia Bowl on Sunday, December 21st. As the holiday spirit sweeps through downtown, the Gaslamp lit streets will be filled a competitive and festive crowd made up of the competing teams and their cheer squads, their supportive family and friends, and college sports enthusiasts.

The Battle of the Bands event will occur for the first time in the Gaslamp Quarter, and is slated to be a unique type of parade the evokes the energy of the Poinsettia Bowl. The bands of the two competing colleges will line up at opposite ends of Fifth Avenue as fans sit on the patios of downtown businesses to watch the bands proceed one block at a time. At each intersection, the bands will stop and perform one or two songs. At the corner of Market Street and Fifth Avenue, the bands will square off and battle with their best performances, along with the cheer squads in full force.
