2010 San Diego Indie Music Fest: Metric, Far, Nappy Roots

Headlining artists for the 2010 San Diego Indie Music Fest were released this week, and we think you’re going to like what’s coming up for this hyper-local celebration of indie music, art and film in North Park on March 26th & 27th.

San Diego Indie Music Fest is California's first and only independent music festival. Since its debut in 2004, it has nearly tripled in size, quickly becoming one of California's hottest events. This cultural extravaganza runs from 11am - 2am, across 2 days, and will feature over 60 artists on 6 stages. In addition to the music, Indie Fest puts all indie art forms in the spotlight, including film and visual art.

Headliners for the 2010 San Diego Indie Music Fest include global indie sensation Metric and Far! Additional Indie Fest artists include Collective Purpose, The Devil's Playground, Alisha Zalkin, The Vokab Kompany, Lauren DeRose, Gregory Page, Folding Mr. Lincoln, Nova, White Apple Tree, Nappy Roots & more.

Past San Diego Indie Fest music headliners have included Juliette Lewis, Beth Hart, Claude Coleman (WEEN), Semi Precious Weapons, Veruca Salt, Jonatha Brooke, Fishbone, Scissors For Lefty, and Heather Grody (The Murmurs).

At the core of Indie Fest is the belief that: “Diversity is not simply to be 'tolerated' but rather to be celebrated as the crux of that which is remarkable in our community, and that which is crucial to a healthy, vibrant city where people of all types are important, recognized and valued.”

San Diego Indie Music Fest is March 26 – 27, 2010. Tickets are $25 General Admission and $22 for Students or Military, and kids under 8-years-old are Free! You can buy tickets at the event, or online here.

Women Behind the Scene
Indie Fest is the brainchild of Alicia Champion, President and Founder of Champ Records, and Danielle Lo Presti, President and Founder of Say It Records. As the front woman of Danielle LoPresti & The Masses, Danielle's work has made an effort to empower and enrich the independent music scene in California, with an emphasis on an ever more concrete connection between the arts and social activism.

Sounds awesome, bit of a Far fan. Great feature on the progression of indie music over the last decade here http://bit.ly/7e2SfY
