The best of international film and fashion will collide in a stunning display of edgy an ethereal artistry during the La Jolla Fashion Film Festival at the Museum of Contemporary Art La Jolla, July 29 & 30.
Unique from other major festivals around the globe, the La Jolla Fashion Film Festival (LJFFF) is a modern celebration of the fashion film art movement, and seeks to recognize the emergence of the cinematic genre as it relates to the fashion world. Not a film festival, nor a fashion runway show; this glamorous event will showcase how film is both an expression of art and a way to introduce new collections to the marketplace. LJFFF brings together style icons, directors, actors, and culture enthusiasts for a variety of film debuts, industry mixers, seminars, panel discussions, cocktail receptions, and of course, after parties.
LJFFF boasts a diverse line-up of films, everything from the classic to the cutting edge, featuring such directors as Karl Lagerfeld, Bruce Weber, Johan Reneck, Marcus K. Jones, Zaiba Jabbar, George Manzanilla, Vernie Yeung, Monica Menez, Jason Last, Gabriel Gettman, Hope Audikana and more. Featured director Karl Lagerfield is a German born and French educated artist who has become a global icon over the course of his career as an entrepreneur, collaborator, and director in fashion, art, and film. Most know and love Lagerfeld for his role as head designer and creative director for the fashion house Chanel. Lagerfeld also helms his own label fashion house, as well as the Italian house Fendi. In the cinematic industry, he has directed “Shopping Fever” and “The Tale of a Fairy.”
One of the most exciting festival entertainment elements will be the exclusive installation of never-before-seen Andy Warhol portraits. Four incredible portraits will be unveiled during the opening night Director’s Reception, and will then be introduced to the general public on Saturday evening. Victoria's Secret star Alessandra Ambrosio will be featured in one of Jacques Dequeker's films, and Melody Sylvester, the Executive Producer at RSA Films London, will be a guest of honor at the event.
The La Jolla Fashion Film Festival takes place at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla, Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30, with the after parties being held at Barfly, just blocks from the museum. LJFFF Opening Night tickets start at $50, and a $75 upgrade is available, to include the Opening Night Screening Program, Director's Recap, and After Party. Closing Night tickets also start at $50, and for $75 you receive the Closing Night Screening Program, Director's Recap, and After Party. For more information and tickets, visit ljfff.com.
