RAW: Natural Born Artists is an international community of independent artists with roots in Southern California. For years, RAW has produced indie art events in San Diego, showcasing work in fashion, music, visual and performing arts, hair styling, makeup artistry and photography. RAW was created by artists, for artists, aiming to support individuals in the first 10 years of their career.
The RAWawards celebrates the nation’s best indie artists every fall. Now in its fourth year, the RAWawards competition is underway, with San Diego’s city semi-final show just around the corner.
On Friday, November 16, the RAWawards semi-finalists will set up shop at 4th & B. From pop-up art galleries, to performing artists and live musicians, indie artists will show off their craft in hopes of winning a live vote from the audience and the panel of local guest judges. On the panel are San Diego-based art and entertainment experts Ian Xavier, Barbarella Fokos and me, Michelle Guerin. Sacita Duffy will emcee the evening, while DJ Jake Is keeps the energy up in between performances.
