The Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with 91X FM, the City of Solana Beach and the Belly Up Tavern present the 29th Annual Fiesta del Sol Summer Kick-Off Festival June 7 and 8 in breezy and beautiful Solana Beach.
This two-day festival is a notorious get-together that hosts over 50,000 people all-day, for free. The Fletcher Cove beach-side area of Solana Beach will come alive with swelling sounds, fantastic smells and even better sights - hopefully sans sharks.
While San Diego boasts a number of beach towns scattered up the coast, Solana Beach is not only one of our oldest, but one of our finest. A strong community and a developed design district, Solana Beach is upscale but cozy. With the sound of the waves crashing nearby and a soft breeze blowing, this mellow beach town is the perfect spot for a summer kick-off event like Fiesta del Sol.
Fiesta Del Sol offers something for all family and friends, enabling anyone to join you for this beachside bonanza. Expect an international food court with tasty treats from all over the world, a beer garden with a wide selection including Stella Artois and Budweiser (for those 21 and up), live entertainment, children activities, arts and crafts centers, non-profit information stations, retail and business booths lining the streets of Solana Beach both days from 9:00am - 7:00pm. Free parking will be available, and shuttle service plans are in the works.
Entertainment is hosted by the notorious Belly Up Tavern and secured by local radio station FM 91X, featuring headliners the Romantics, Elijah Emanuel and the Revelations, Venice, the English Beat, Diego Roots and our own Lady Dottie and the Diamonds.

If you haven't seen Lady Dottie singing somewhere in San Diego, you have undoubtedly been missing out. Lady Dottie and the Diamonds is arguably the best band to dance to in San Diego. No matter the crowd or venue. they always get the vibe going. In fact, anytime I've seen Lady Dottie play, no one in the bar sits still. Their funky covers and wailing vocals start the show with high energy and keep it rolling for hours.
Front woman Lady Dottie, a bluesy boogie queen sings the hell out of classics like "Proud Mary" and "In the Midnight Hour" with an old rock 'n' roll sound produced by the Diamonds that loosens you up and makes you happy. Isn't that what rock 'n' roll was originally for anyway? Lady Dottie and the Diamonds do it right, so to miss them is to miss out. Do yourself a favor and make an appearance on the dance floor; Lady Dottie won't do you wrong.
This celebratory summer kick-off Fiesta del Sol only happens only once a year, so head up the coast this June 7 and 8 to eat, drink, and dance with the Solana Beach locals.
