Although a few farmers markets keep San Diegans filled up on fresh fruits and veggies year round, many seasonal favorites are at their peak of flavor during summertime. This summer, there's no excuse not to eat healthy.

What to buy:
June brings avocados, tomatoes, grapefruit, peaches, and raspberries.
July brings melons, potatoes, peppers, figs, and sweet corn.
August brings plums, apricots, carrots, and squash.
September brings cucumbers, onions, apples, grapes, and Valencia oranges.

Ocean Beach
The 4900 block of Newport Avenue in Ocean Beach hosts an open market with featured artists and live music from 4 to 7pm.

La Jolla Elementary School welcomes a large crowd on Girard Avenue from 9am to 1pm.
