5 Best San Diego Party Beaches

Cruise to these San Diego beaches for the ultimate summer parties. If you BYOB this summer, cans and cozies are the only way to go. Leave your glass at home for a guilt-free party scene on San Diego sand.

Mission Beach attracts a diverse crowd. If you're looking for a party, avoid central Mission and stick to the poles. South Mission is always packed with partiers and rowdy volleyball players by the Jetty, and north Mission resembles a more-mellow Pacific Beach scene. Alcohol is permitted from 12-8pm on the beach.

Pacific Beach is the beach party capital of San Diego. With a steady flow of youngsters and a few denial-clad elders heading straight to the sand from Garnet Avenue and Pacific Beach Drive, there's always a beach keg to crash. Alcohol is permitted from 12-8pm on the beach.

Ocean Beach offers a beach party circa 1960's. Surfers, hippy families, and alternative locals peruse the shores near Newport Avenue to catch rays and reminisce over a few beers. Alcohol is permitted from 12-8pm on the beach.

La Jolla draws a more mature and upscale crowd. Likeminded locals from north and south county meet in La Jolla to admire the beautiful scenery and enjoy intimate beach parties around the cove. Alcohol is permitted from 12-8pm on the beach.

Encinitas/Cardiff attracts a young, party-centric local north county scene. From high school to mid-forties, partiers of all ages and backgrounds hang out below the D Street stairs and along the shore at Pipes. Alcohol is not (technically) permitted.
