5th Annual St. Baldrick's Shave-a-Thon

A shiny, clean-shaven noggin’ isn’t such a bad look when it transforms you into an instant hero.

St. Baldrick’s Foundation, one of the nation’s leading contributors to childhood cancer research, returns to take our tresses at the 5th Annual Shave-a-Thon. On Saturday, March 9, The Commons downtown will transform into a good ol’ fashioned barber shop for the event that buzzes heads towards a better future. Starting at 12 p.m., willing participants can step in, shave off those locks and make donations to the foundation that holds Shave-a-Thons worldwide. Bald heads in San Diego will shine for solidarity with children undergoing cancer treatments.

Are you ready to "Shave it Clean in 2013"? More than just a beauty statement, the head shaving celebration generates awareness, funds research for childhood cancer and helps survivors live long and healthy lives all through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Become a shavee by signing up at stbaldricks.org

The ongoing efforts of the Shave-a-Thon have had buzz-worthy success. Last year, more than 56,200 shavees contributed to the cause. And ladies flaunted the bald-is-beautiful look, too, with over 7,100 women participating in the 1,300 worldwide events. In San Diego alone, 40 heads were shaved including five women, raising over $41,000 for the cause locally.

San Diego hair salon sponsor The Factory will be taking the lead in all hair matters. Aside from the lovely locks shedding to the floor, the afternoon will also feature a specialty St. Baldrick’s signature cocktail, donating portion of the proceeds to the Foundation. The cocktail will be offered throughout the entire month of March at The Commons.

A $10 donation at the door will secure admission, as well as complimentary appetizers. $20 at the door will hook you up with complimentary appetizers, a free drink ticket, a T-shirt and raffle ticket. 100% of the proceeds from the afternoon will go directly to the St. Baldrick's Foundation.

The Commons is located at 901 4th Avenue, Downtown
