Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Police, and R.E.M. all have one thing other than their insurmountable influence and iconic impact on music in common — they’ve inspired some of the nation’s top tribute bands to prove themselves worthy on Saturday, Nov. 26th at the House of Blues in Downtown San Diego.
It may be impossible to fill the void of these era-defining bands, but these tribute groups come close. Capturing even the most minute of nuances for spectacular impersonations, The Cured, Strangelove (pictured), Murmur, and The Police Experience will make the Fifth Annual (and biggest ever) '80s Holiday Hangover Party one to remember.
With The Cured’s refined theatrics and expanded lyrical repertoire that mimics that of the cult heroes Cure, and The Police Experience’s prime portrayal of The Police that is so accurate that it’s even supported by drummer Stewart Copeland, these two tribute groups are destined to dangerously distort the venue into an '80s-like spectacle of unrestrained hip-shaking, song-loving entertainment.
For those who lamented when R.E.M. retired, Murmur will be the next best way to experience what it’s like to hear R.E.M. live. Hailing all the way from Athens, this indie-rock tributary group will get the crowd once again singing the classics, “Man on the Moon” and “Everybody Hurts.” And for Depeche Mode devotees who want to pay tribute to one of the most influential electronic bands the world has ever known, there is no need to pay an obscene cost to sit in the back of a huge stadium when Strangelove will be proving its status as the current biggest Depeche Mode production other than Depeche Mode itself at this event.
So if the autumn-like nostalgia is getting you down, come check out this event that will transform the House of Blues into the House of Booze. With its history of luring in more than 1,000 people, consider picking up tickets now at the venue or order online here. Options for general admission start at $12.50 and reserved seating starts at $22.50. Or gather up a group of four to purchase a pack of general admission tickets for $37.60. And, even better, email the bands beforehand to possibly receive free tickets.
The doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8:30pm. For more information visit the Facebook event page here.
