The question should never be whether or not we should skate or die. The real question is whether or not we skated enough. We all choose death eventually, so basically life is all about going around in circles until our final choice is made. This is okay.
Activities that allow us to identify, cope with, and enjoy these truths are often hard to come by, and unfortunately, they are often ruined by teenagers. The only legitimate reason to dislike children, is that because of their existence, adults often get robbed of enjoyable activities. Roller skating is a great example of this.
A roller rink is youth turf. Adults want to be there, but if they choose to go there, they are choosing-whether they like it or not- to hang out with teenagers, babies, teenagers with babies, and pre teen girls that think Frankie Munoz is an old fart who used to be hot when they were like in 4th grade (we've all heard that conversation).
The teenagers are winning the Roller Skating War that nobody wants talk about, but that is okay. There is hope my fellow registered voters, and it resides in Linda Vista.
On Tuesday nights, SkateWorld offers adult-only skating from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. Admission is 8 bucks and costumes are encouraged. Age shouldn't matter, but you when you want to skate around in circles, and forget about the choices you know you will have to make, it does.
