Even though the San Diego wildfires still rage in the East County, most of San Diego proper has made a definite turn towards recovery.
The air seems much clearer by comparison - though we're warned it's still too toxic to get back to our usual active outdoor lifestyle. That's when we need to look to fun indoor activities in San Diego to get our minds off things (preferably at a place with an air conditioner/purifier).
Go to a movie:
A San Diego movie theater is the perfect place to sit for a couple hours in air-conditioned comfort without news and radio updates interrupting you constantly. Even better, see an IMAX film at the Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park.
Go Bowling:
Once known for clouds of smoke billowing out of the open doors - like Spicoli falling out of his VW van - San Diego bowling alleys have become smoke-free, just like the rest of California. You could use a little more slightly athletic competition in your life.
Game Night:
Find out which of your friends has the best air filtration system and set up an old fashioned 50's style game night. Bust out the Monopoly, Risk, and even Clue. Bonus points if you come in costume and make fondue.
Hit up a Museum:
Most San Diego museums have excellent climate control due to the necessity of preservation. You can get a brisk breath of fresh air and some culture while you're at it.
Whatever you do, take it easy - you've had a rough week.
