This Saturday the AMA Supercross, sponsored by Monster energy drink, takes over Qualcomm Stadium.
Supercross is an organized, touring dirt bike race that takes place in giant arenas. Thousands of pounds of dirt are trucked in and piled high, then shaped into jumps, dips, berms and whoop-dee-doos. Multiple riders race around the track in preliminary races during the day (doors open at 12:30pm) and for the win in the Main Event at 7pm. Fastest time takes first place.
Known for the exciting high speed, and high flying stunts, Supercross is the second most popular motorsport in America, second only to NASCAR. This is one of those events where the big-voiced radio commercial guy promises “Adrenaline Pumping Action." The thing is - it's true.
Every jump is a risk and racers can go down at any time with a whole pack of other riders coming right up on him. This is a dangerous and exhilarating show, and with tickets as low as $10 its one of the cheapest pro sports events in town. The good seats go for $35 but you can save $10 if you pick up your tickets at Off-Road Wharehouse. If you're looking for a pit pass - stop by Escondido Cycle Center.
Insider Tips:
Bring Ear Plugs: It gets uncomfortably loud in there, at the end of the night your ear's will be ringing like you just got out of a rock concert.
Take the Trolley: Just like any professional sporting event at Qualcomm, parking is going to fill up fast so hop on the trolley and save yourself the hassle.
