Anthology is a stylish venue that gives stage time to international artists and local stars with an eclectic range of talent, including jazz, rock, acoustic, and classical. Though the music streams heavily through the supper-club's interior, tearing down the walls and blasting into broad daylight would create a whole new experience.
The inaugural StreetBeat San Diego Outdoor Music & Art Festival gives music a home on the streets of Little Italy, October 1st at 3pm, where live bands and local artisans, food, and beer take on the fresh outdoors while maintaining the upscale atmosphere Anthology is renowned for. It’s a community block party and outdoor concert right on Anthology’s front yard, India Street between Ash and A.
Local musicians are set to take the stage inside Anthology, while international touring acts will hit the outdoor main stage. Just who will you hear? Headlining band Gomez (pictured) graces us from England and brings alternative rock to the outdoor stage. Their seventh studio album Whatever’s On Your Mind was released recently on July 9th, and has since hit number 19 on the Billboard Tastemaker Chart. Also headlining the event is O.A.R., the American jam rock band who also happens to be supporting their latest album King. The single “Heaven” debuted August 2nd and can frequently be heard on popular rock stations.
Also recently added to the tab is Ximena Sarinana, a female force to be reckoned with on the main stage. As a mega-star in Mexico, Ximena has been working endlessly on her English album debut. So far it’s paying off, as her hit single “Different” made her a VH1 Artist You Oughta Know. And of course, our own San Diego locals The Silent Comedy are bringing their indie, folk, and rock sound to the festival streets. After self-producing their LP Common Faults in 2010, the band launched into full rock-star mode with performances with Mumford and Sons, The Black Keys, MGMT, Common, and many more.
