Known for their extensive background in sketch comedy with the Honking Geese, San Diego playwrights Nick McCann and Dallas McLaughlin have written a full play: Pushing Back Days.
Loosely based on personal experience, Pushing Back Days invites you to join two mid-twenties bachelors on the couch for some Madden mixed with self reflection. You know that scene in Swingers where the guys are playing video games in the apartment? Yeah, it’s kind of like that. Seeing as it’s an all male cast; guys will find it immensely relatable, while for women it’s a fascinating look into how men act/talk/project when they’re among their own kind.
Pushing Back Days will run for two weekends in August (10th-11th and 17th-18th) at 10pm in the small but locally respected 6th @ Penn Theater in Hillcrest. Get there early. Parking is scarce and the seating is first come, first served.
If you want to make an evening of it, hit up one of the many Hillcrest restaurants within walking distance like Bite or Lotus Thai before the show. Afterwards, stop by a coffee shop to discuss your own experiences involving mid-twenties bachelors coping with Peter-Pan syndrome.
