Auf Wiedersehen: A Farewell for Jesus Estrada at Searsucker

Posted On : 3/22/2011 by Ryan Eisenacher

If you’re a sartorially savvy San Diego local, it’s safe to say that you’re privy to the name Jesus Estrada.

In the past two years, the 21-year-old San Diego fashion designer has been making noteworthy waves in the dynamic world of fashion. Originally hailing from Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico, Estrada moved to San Diego with his mother and brothers to live and breathe the American dream. Estrada always fantasized about becoming a famous fashion designer, and after graduating from Clairemont High School, he moved on to attend Fashion Careers College where he created his first collection of couture clothing in San Diego.

In 2009, Estrada was elected to participate as a Season 7 contestant on the Emmy-nominated TV show “Project Runway.” Since his debut on the hit series, Estrada has been in a variety of distinguished fashion shows including the admirable Project Ethos, and even joined forces with Season 6 “Project Runway” designer Gordana Gehlhausen, to sell his edgy, yet feminine, must-have designs out of her downtown San Diego boutique GOGA by Gordana.

With a wealth of success under his belt, the celebrated local designer is packing his bags and moving to New York City to follow his dreams. But not before San Diego can send him off in a proper and honorable fashion.

On Thursday, March 24th, San Diego’s chef extraordinaire Brian Malarkey of Searsucker – and Estrada’s close friend - will play host to the ‘Auf Wiedersehen’ soiree, where Estrada will unveil his sixteen-piece 2011 collection for the first time with a dramatic runway show.

At 11pm, San Diego’s fashion community will strut their stuff on the red carpet and enjoy dancing, signature cocktails and delectable bites from Chef Malarkey, as they say goodbye to one of San Diego’s rising stars.

Guests will have the opportunity to listen to interviews with Brian Malarkey and Jesus Estrada, take photos on the step & repeat, and take home video and photography of Estrada’s fashion show. Don’t miss out on this elegant night of fashion, food and fun in the Gaslamp Quarter. Get details here!
