Local Hip-Hop desperados Bad Credit play the Casbah Friday, January 4, 2008 with Supernova and Nautical Disaster.
Fronted by the comedic duo Optimus Rhyme and Dr. Cliff Mixtable this local act has invented its own musical genre: Financial Hip-Hop. With songs like "Who Left the Lights on in the Whitehouse" and "Bill Gates Owes Me Five Bucks," it's easy to assume they have an overtly political agenda. They don't; instead they just write about what they know: hard times with cash flow. The most important thing to this band is entertaining their audience and making sure everyone leaves with a smile on his (or her) face.
Often touted as the most amusing show in San Diego, Bad Credit mixes fat beats with humorous yet thought provoking lyrics. Their on-stage presence is magnetic and the energy pouring forth is truly impressive.
This is an interactive audience participation show, so be sure to pay attention to directions like: "Yell 'WHAT?' after you hear 'Bill Gates'" and "Sing along to the alphabet breakdown" being shouted at you from stage. Playing along makes it much more enjoyable.
Friendly reminder: Don't try to get on stage - it could be dangerous. Also, pay attention to the witty repartee in between songs - their funny comments may very well be about you. Take it in the intended spirit and enjoy the show. That's what you're there for anyway, right?
This concert is 21 and up, $8 at the door. Visit the Casbah for more information.
