Bob Golub at San Diego House of Blues

Published : 11/13/2007 by Nick McCann

When watching Bob Golub's stand up comedy, you get the feeling that it is hard to be him. He is a hard guy, and that makes his comedy hard. It is hard not to laugh at him, and it is especially hard to sit in the front row at one of his shows if you are not comfortable with who you are.

Bob Golub's only real claim to fame is that he has a cameo in the movie Good Fellas, where he walks into a diner, screams a racial slur, and then claims his truck has been stolen. He is only on screen for twenty seconds and he spends it having a hard time. His act leaves you with the same feeling, and somehow he manages to make people laugh.

Even though Golub has never made it to marquee headliner status, he does know how to work a crowd, and he really good at making fun of young comedians when he hosts a night of comedy.

Bob Golub's Night of Comedy on Wednesday, November 14, at the San Diego House of Blues, downtown, will feature up-and-coming stand up comics from San Diego and Los Angeles. It will truly be fantastic night, especially if you like aggressive comedy from a guy who is angry because he spent too many years on the road opening up for Screech.
