Complete with a Santa Clause in full surfing gear, the 2nd annual "Deck the Palms" San Diego holiday festival will commence on Sunday December 2, 2007 at Seaport Village. This is a family holiday event open to all-ages from 11am to 4pm.
With a craft area devoted to kids, and the return of the sand dollar ornament decorating activity, the 2007 "Deck the Palms" event is sure to be even bigger than last year. Each of the specialty shops in Seaport Village are responsible for decorating one of the dozens of palm trees that line the walkways of the village, making for a very interesting blend of eclectic styles.
Live music will be played in the food court throughout the duration of the event, and the stores will be open to support your Christmas shopping needs. Event parking is free for 2 hours, with any purchase.
Professional sand-sculptors will be on-site displaying their works and assisting children in creating their own sandcastle masterpieces. Chalk art will also be featured along the miles of sidewalk that run through the village. Children will be invited to showcase their artistic talents in chalk as well.
This raved-about fruitcake chuck-n-hurl activity will be back for another year of fun. Contestants, young and old, will attempt to throw a fruitcake into a trash can. Donations collected from every participant will go to benefit the Child Abuse Prevention Foundation in San Diego.
