The San Diego Center for Community Solutions, a non-profit agency offering domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and intervention services, is hosting its 4th annual Chef Showdown: Taking a Stand against Domestic Violence on Thursday, October 2nd 2008, at the Legacy Plaza and Luce Court, NTC Promenade in Point Loma.
Two teams of leading chefs from top San Diego restaurants, armed with only their most delectable recipes, must beat the cooking-clock and battle it out in this fun, action-packed culinary competition. A silent auction will also be held in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and will feature a variety of specialty items, events and vacation opportunities from San Diego companies. Accompanying food samples, cocktails and live entertainment will round out the evening's festivities.
Chefs competing in the showdown represent the fine kitchens of Barona Casino, Café Chloe, Café Japengo, Isabel's Cantina, Marine Room, Oceanaire Seafood Room, Quarter Kitchen, Rancho Valencia, Urban Solace, and Viejas Casino. The Chef Showdown will feature celebrity judges and commentary by co-hosts Bernard Guillas, Executive Chef of the Marine Room; Emmy award-winner Sam Zien of "Sam the Cooking Guy" fame, and Isabel Cruz, Executive Chef of Isabel's Cantina. Lee Ann Kim of Channel 10 News will emcee the evening.
Tickets are on sale for $125; $150 for VIP (VIP tickets include access to an exclusive VIP lounge designed for optimal competition viewing). Sponsorship opportunities and reserved tables are also available. Funds raised at Chef Showdown will support domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and intervention programs at CCS.
