Dave Attell at San Diego House of Blues

Published : 2/20/2008 by Craig Slike

New York native Dave Attell got into stand-up comedy in the late Eighties, after graduating with a degree in Film and Television from New York University. After a few years waiting tables by day and hitting up open mikes at night he worked his way up the stand up ladder to become a national headliner touring across America.

In the early 2000's, Attell combined his love of booze and laughter with his chronic sleep disorder to create one of Comedy Centrals best shows of all time: "Insomniac with Dave Attell." The show featured Attell going from city to city on his regular club tour but then followed him around all night looking for shenanigans. Shenanigans so awesome you need to Netflix the series today (unrated version of course). The New York Times called the show, "a doubly rare beast, a comedy without rancor and a travel show about the virtues of the American underdog." To Attell, the Insomniac show is more of a cross between "Girls Gone Wild" and "Cops".

Lucky for us - Dave's coming to the San Diego House of Blues February 28th at 7:30pm. Tickets will set you back $29.50 - $32 and it's 21 and over. His material can best be described as "very adult" and best experienced under the influence. So, if you're easily offended you might want to pass this one up. No word as to who's opening for him, but I'm way more interested in where he's going for drinks after.
