Discover China with Tower After Hours at Museum of Man

Published : 4/9/2008 by DiscoverSD

San Diego Museum of Man hosts a Tower After Hours event the last Thursday of each month, introducing locals to the diverse tastes and rhythms of various countries around the world.

This next Tower After Hours brings the rich culture of China to San Diego on Thursday, April 24 from 6-8pm. China is the world's most populous nation, with a dynamic culture dating back 6,000 years. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to live and breathe the Chinese way of life at San Diego's own Museum of Man.

Elevating this event to a new level of intrigue is the increasing universal focus on China, the host country of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. While in just six months eyes around the world will watch China's every move, San Diego now celebrates in anticipation the art, dance, drink, and cuisine of China.

On Thursday, April 24, over 300 intellectually savvy San Diegans will embrace the colorful sights and sounds of Chinese culture and catch a sneak preview of the woodblock print artistry of Xian Rang Yong, whose works will be featured in the newest exhibition at the Museum of Man: People, Prints, and Politics: China 1920-1980. Tickets grant guests access to the museum exhibits and live entertainment as well as traditional food and drink tastings.

We encourage you to take a break from your typical routine and explore a culture outside your own at the San Diego Museum of Man. Upcoming Tower After Hours countries of emphasis include Germany and Portugal.

General admission is $20 for adults and $15 for college students and military with valid ID. Additional discounts apply for seniors, youth and small children. Tower After Hours features a new world culture the last Thursday of every month. For more information on Tower After Hours visit the Museum of Man at museumofman.org.
