On Saturday, September 11th at the San Diego Sports Arena, Reset Events, the company that brought the electronic music massive back to San Diego is bringing us locals another wild and crazy summer music festival. But this time it’s going to be brighter and more vivid.
That’s right people, Abstract Festival is here! And it’s going to be nuts like a double rainbow! I’m not really sure what that exactly means, but it sounds like something out of a raver’s paradise to me. Translation: this is going to be one kick ass music extravaganza that you definitely don’t want to miss.
The Sports Arena will host two scintillating stages that offer the best of the electronic music world accompanied by those always delightful pyrotechnics and essential art installations. For individuals craving a more hospitable experience, a new and improved VIP area with hosted bar will be at your disposal and redesigned cabanas, now located on prime real estate in front of the stage, will be available.
With electronic music heavyweights Major Lazer and Rusko headlining the main stage, it’s safe to say that the Abstract Festival just might be one of the best music/dance parties of the summer…hell, maybe even the year.
Major Lazer (pictured above), a collaborative musical project from DJ/Producers Diplo and Switch, came together after the duo worked with M.I.A. and then teamed up to release their first album, Guns Don't Kill People... Lazers Do on June 16th of 2009. Since then, Major Lazer has garnered a huge amount of success from fans across the globe. The U.K. beatsmith Rusko (pictured left) is a titan of the brutal British dubstep genre and his over-the-top sound has been snaking its way into pop music artists’ tracks such as M.I.A. and even the one and only Britney Spears.
Aside from Major Lazer and Rusko, expect other top-notch performances from Skillrex, aka Sonny Moore, the former frontman for the podst-hardcore band From First to Last; Designer Drugs electronic duo comprised of Michael Vincent Patrick and Theodore Paul Nelson; House/Techno/ Electro DJ sensation David Kim; and up and coming San Diego DJ Brett Neiman.
Leading the festivities on inside the box on the Underground Stage will be American house/minimal techno and ambient music producer Claude Von Stroke; London-based producer and highly acclaimed electronic artist Tim Green; a collection of 4 DJs who rock parties in the Delta, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas also known as Trackonaut; world-renowned producer and electronic musician Steve Duda; and Jon Dadon & Justin Baule of Starry Eyed Music, a musical collective of some of the best House and Electronic DJs in San Diego.
