On Sunday June 8, get to the grass for FM 94.9's Miller Lite Independence Jam, presented by Scion, for the quintessential event to usher in the 2008 San Diego summer season just the way we locals like it: outdoors, listening to music, with beer in hand.
Taking place at Devore Stadium Field at Southwestern College, one of San Diego's oldest festival sites, where a sprawling grass field provides room to sit, stand, and dance next to a beer garden with size to match, 94.9's Independence Jam will jumpstart your summer fun with nostalgic festival bliss.
Started in 2004 to promote a diverse array of music, the local radio station's Independence Jam has grown to become one of San Diego's most anticipated summer events. In 2008, two stages will feature a parade of indie music favorites: this year's synth-pop darlings MGMT, classic bar band the Hold Steady, and electronic supergirl Santogold are just a few of the acts that will swoon and croon you straight into summer.
Also performing are local bands including the Muslims, the Silent Comedy, and Kill Me Tomorrow on the Casbah Local 94.9 Stage.
Tickets are on sale now for $40 with no service fee and free parking. One dollar from every ticket sold will go to the About the Music Fund so there's no excuse not to come. Get your tickets at M-Theory Music on Washington Ave., at Lou's Records in Encinitas, or online at casbahtickets.com. Or grab tickets at one of 94.9's Random Acts of Kindness drop spots at any Scion Dealership listed on the website and go for free: independencejam.com.
