Fundraising Comedy Show for Sick Musical Prodigy

Published : 4/29/2009 by DiscoverSD

The Hinges, voted the last two years as “Best Theatre Group” on KGTV’s A-List, is proud to unveil a very special fundraising show for an ailing musical prodigy.

“We’ve been so blessed by everyone in San Diego that it’s important for us to give back,” said Anne McElvain, the Hinges’ producer. “That’s why we’re so happy to be making a positive difference in Natalie London’s life.”

Natalie London is a music prodigy who has abilities in singing, composing, and performing on wide variety of instruments. About 3 years ago, a tick bit her and it was only after a series of unnecessary and painful operations, that Ms. London was properly diagnosed with an advanced case of Lyme disease.

By that time, the disease had progressed to the point that simpler medication has no effect. Her Multiple Sclerosis-like symptoms can only be combated by expensive oral medication and hyperbaric oxygen treatment, which is not covered by insurance.

McElvain continued, “Natalie is a really talented, wonderful person and we’re happy to help her in any way we can. It’s comedy for a great cause. All profits for the show will be donated to help Natalie.”

A special donation page has been created on the Hinges’ site for people to donate directly to Natalie and the tremendous costs of this treatment, even if they can’t make it to the show.

Details of the show are as follows:
Saturday, May 16 at 8:00 PM
Theatrix
155 E. Grand Ave.
Escondido, CA 92025

Tickets are $10.00 in advance or $20.00 at the door.

McElvain added, “We’re thrilled to have Natalie’s brother, stand up comedian, Stephen Glickman opening for us. He’s the star of the new Nickelodeon show "One 4 All", been on Last Comic Standing and Comedy Central, among others.”

The Hinges specialize in improvised sketch comedy, made up on the spot in front of a live audience. The humor is raunchy, unique and off-kilter. They have been known to surprise audiences with raffles and party favors, and welcome audience volunteers as part of the show.
