Icy Hot: Holiday Ice Skating in San Diego

Posted On : 10/27/2011 by Kseniya Bublikova

The fact that we don’t experience much snow and sleet here in San Diego isn’t enough to stop us from enjoying all the fun activities that come with the cold weather. In fact, there are several enchanting rinks and arenas in our beautiful city that allow us to have an incredible skating experience on ice. Grab your loved ones, bundle up and get ready to have some winter fun.

A few of our favorite seasonal ice skating rinks pop up during the holidays at the Hotel Del Coronado, Westfield Horton Plaza, SeaWorld and Viejas Outlet Center. More year-round fun on the ice can be found at Westfield UTC La Jolla, Iceoplex in Escondido, Salvation Army Kroc Center and the San Diego Ice Arena. Who says you can’t have the best of both worlds? In San Diego, you can experience winter wonderland on a warm and sunny afternoon.

Del Coronado Ice Skating

Your 10/27/2011 article on Ice Skating in San Diego lists Hotel Del Coronado prices as $15 for a 3 hour session. Currently they are charging $25 per 3 hr session. That is a huge discrepancy in pricing information. While I would love to take my daughter to experience ice skating by the sea, at this price point, it's almost criminal. Talk about gouging the consumer! I don't know whether there was an error on your part in reporting proper pricing or just the sheer greed by Del Coronado increasing their prices, but it should definitely be looked into.
