Don’t let the gloomy weather ruin your Fourth of July. Instead, head indoors to heat up your holiday entertainment.
Throw Down For A Cause is bringing women’s Jell-O wrestling to Rich’s on Thursday. It’s the fourth annual gelatin-based benefit for LGBT and homeless youth in San Diego. In other words, you can celebrate Independence Day by cheering on local ladies in Jell-O pits, while raising money to help youth in our community.
Guests can get a taste of the action with $1 Jell-O shots. These discounted shooters are in addition to a two-hour hosted bar, plus raffle prizes and beats by DJ Genevieve.
The evening of women’s wrestling begins at 6 p.m. Julie Goldman of The Big Gay Sketch Show will emcee, and Ref Ruffhausen will serve as the referee. Tickets are $15 pre-sale and $25 at the door. There is also VIP seating available for $50 per person.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the San Diego LGBT Community Center’s Sunburst Youth Housing Center and Project LoveOutLoud’s services for homeless youth. Last year, the event raised $4,500, and the 2013 goal is now raised to $25,000.
