Oh, baby! Are you ready for more Bieber fever?
Teen-pop idol Justin Bieber will perform June 22 at Valley View Casino Center (formerly the San Diego Sports Arena). It will be the kick-off of the 2013 summer leg of his North American "Believe" tour, which concludes Aug. 10 in Atlanta and includes June 22 and 24 dates at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Tickets for his concert here will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at all Ticketmaster outlets, including the Valley View Casino Center box office, online (ticketmaster.com) and by phone: (800) 745-3000. As of this writing, the event does not appear on Bieber's web site, the Ticketmaster web site or on the venue's web site, but it was announced Monday morning by AED Live, the tour's promoter.
Ticket prices for Bieber's June performance here have not yet been announced. However, his previous show at the same venue (in late 2010) was a quick sell-out and it will be surprising if this one doesn't follow suit. VIP packages will also be available, although the prices for those packages for the San Diego show are not yet known.
Last year saw the Canadian teenager weather perhaps the biggest controversy of his career (well, besides dating "older woman" Selena Gomez, his now apparently former girlfriend), when a 20-year-old Lakeside woman accused him of fathering her child. She subsequently dropped her paternity suit.
Bieber chronicled this incident in his song "Maria," which includes such lines as: Maria, why you wanna do me like that? / That ain't my baby, that ain't my girl . (Anyone who is reminded of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" should go to the end of a very long line of like-minded listeners.)
More recently, Bieber made the news last week when his newest album, "Believe," failed to earn a single Grammy Awards nomination.
