Kipper's Trivia Night - Booze Fueled Battle of the Wits

Published : 4/18/2008 by DiscoverSD

The famous Kipper's Trivia Night was held at Scolari's Office in North Park for the past two and a half years, frequently dubbed the best trivia night in San Diego. Due to a sudden sale of the beloved dive, Trivia Night has temporarily been out of operation.

We are proud to announce Kipper's Trivia Night has now found a new home at the Whistle Stop in South Park. Hopping back into the rowdy and reckless norm, Trivia Night will continue on the first and third Mondays of the month, and the new season starts Monday, April 21 at 9:30pm.

If you missed out on Kipper's former Trivia Nights at Scolari's Office, here's an overview of what to expect in the seasons to come - details courtesy of the local entertainment liason himself.

Trivia Night starts at 9:30pm, but early arrival is recommended, as prime seats do fill up quickly. All participants pay a $2 fee, and bar drinks are cheap and strong. The night is organized into groups of anywhere from one to five people, and based on the average crowd, the winner can expect to take home well over $100 in cash money. While these simple fact shots may alone allure you to check out the famed Trivia, we haven't even gotten to the good stuff yet.

Kipper's Trivia Night is known to be an all-out war where shouting, heckling, and insulting interaction between teams and hosts are common, if not standard. Trivia Night is not for the faint of heart, or the thin skinned. If you're going to attend, you better be ready to defend yourself with your knowledge and razor-sharp wit.

Each Monday event rotates with six rounds of varied trivia categories in which audio and visual themes are standard. Some favorites are: name that monophonic ringtone version of your favorite '80s songs and name that celebrity moustache. Kipper even hosts tasting rounds with name that cheese and name that artificial flavor, among others. These unique categories are all balanced out with the standard questions of day time TV and celebrity screw ups.

Kipper writes his own questions to ensure a continuous pop culture-infused surprise factor. Traditionalists looking for categories of science and (real) history may be eaten alive by the rowdy crowd of 21-30 year aggressive players eager to dominate this "booze fueled battle of the wits."

Don't miss the first installment of the new-again Kipper's Trivia Night at the Whistle Stop on Monday, April 21 at 9:30pm.\
