Thumbprint Gallery presents a new urban art exhibit showcasing the works of two local artists. Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You features mixed-medium pieces by Christopher Konecki and Keemowerks, two artists with distinct visions that play with street and graffiti styles in very different ways.
The Opening Reception takes place Saturday, December 10th from 5 to 10pm and Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You will be on display within the new La Jolla gallery space through January 8, 2012.
Get to know the artists and get a sneak peek of their locally-crafted urban art.
San Diego artist Christopher Konecki works with acrylic paint and aerosol cans to portray his view of mankind’s modern misunderstanding of his own environment. Konecki takes real inspiration from historical events, such as the Great Depression and Dust Bowl, to illustrate his take on mankind’s self-destructive behavior during great hardship. But it’s not all depressing with Konecki; his whimsical style plays with the essence of nature and questions the human spirit, and he is even known to sprinkle in some humor to keep things light.

Keemowerks is a San Diego artist based in National City, where he continues to teach himself the intricacies of stencil art, street art and graphic design. Keemowerks is known for highly detailed black and white stencil pieces, with up to ten layers per design. One of his ongoing projects is a 100-portrait collection of Mary Jane Skulls inspired by Japanese animation. Keemoworks is one third of the nastyKEMical artist group, with EVIL and MRV.

Thumbprint Gallery is now located at 920 Kline Street, #104 in La Jolla.
