Rock: Maryjane’s Underground with Family Wagon Live

Posted On : 6/20/2011 by Kseniya Bublikova

To the delight of local music lovers, Hard Rock Hotel recently re-launched Maryjane’s Underground, a monthly event series that showcases San Diego rock bands. This free concert series is hosted by Tim Pyles of radio station FM 94/9, so good music is a sure thing. The next upcoming show is on Thursday, June 23 from 10pm to midnight, featuring a live performance by Family Wagon, along with The Kabbs.

Family Wagon is a San Diego based rock band focused on guitar riffs from Ryan Weiss, bass hooks by Gareth Moore, and vocals by Calen Lucas and Bryan Bangerter, also on guitar. The band is known to be extremely loyal to their fans, and the energy shows in each and every show. Family Wagon has been fully embraced by the San Diego music scene due to their rawness and commanding performances.

The Kabbs, a local band with a garage-rock sound with a psychedelic twist, will also be performing on June 23. This band consists of Brian Clinebell on lead vocals and tambo, Brandon Whatley on drums, Kyle Whatley on guitar and vocals, and Chase Elliott on bass. A San Diego band with depth and drive, The Kabbs impress with their skate and surf influenced sound.

Local Sound: Taking place at Maryjane’s within the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego, Maryjane’s Underground is a great concert alternative for those who enjoy discovering new San Diego bands but hate huge crowds, pretense, and sky-rocket prices. Don't miss Family Wagon and The Kabbs on Thursday, June 23. This event is free for all over the age of 21. In addition, $4.20 drink and food specials will be running all night.
