Following a stimulating season of exhibits and cultural events, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego is letting loose and unleashing its flirtatious side for the 35th annual end of summer gala. Monte Carlo is a celebration of the San Diego arts community, and a fundraiser for MCASD exhibitions and educational programs. But no museum soiree is complete without an intriguing theme. This year, Monte Carlo is going Burlesque in a big way, featuring a sultry live show by the hottest woman in the game, Dita Von Teese, on Saturday, September 10.
Monte Carlo is an evening affair that will attract Southern California’s premier social and philanthropic circles to experience sophisticated entertainment for a cause. The museum will transform into a mystical boudoir, setting the stage for dressed up guests to arrive in style and sip burlesque-themed spirits while tasting tray passed hors d’oeuvres during the cocktail reception at 6:30pm. An elegant dinner party will follow, taking place in the open-air dining room that is poised to overlook the coast at sunset. While the multi-course meal is sure to impress, all eyes are bound to be upon the dinner party entertainment.
Dita Von Teese is regarded as the queen of burlesque, and is the industry’s top performer, hand selected by high profile figures for private parties across the globe, including Marc Jacobs, Christian Louboutin, Louis Vuitton, Chopard, and Cartier. She is an international fashion icon and modern day super star who successfully evokes the glamour and allure of Old Hollywood. And now Dita Von Teese will treat Monte Carlo guests to two scintillating live burlesque performances throughout the evening.
As soon as dinner is cleared, the After Party takes over and turns up the heat, welcoming a fresh crowd of local party-goers onto the scene. The three-story museum lounge setting will feature charity gambling tables, live DJ sets, hosted premium cocktails, sweet dessert tables, and signature burlesque entertainment. After Party tickets may be purchased separately.
