During football season, locals rejoice in throwing back craft beers while cheering for the San Diego Chargers. Along with BBQ burgers and hot wings, ice cold beer is a symbol of football season. But, what if there was a signature Chargers wine on the market? Would our game time drinking habits change? Luckily, now we can find out.
In 2002, the owner of the San Diego Chargers, Alex Spanos, and his son-in-law Ron Berberian, a former California wine and food distributor, acquired Bell Wine Cellars in Napa Valley, and soon after formed Spanos Berberian Winery, LLC. This personal passion entered the professional arena as Alex Spanos introduced the team’s first-ever wine bearing the Chargers’ name this summer. The limited-edition Chargers wine was unveiled during a private tasting event on Monday, August 29th within the Draft Room at Chargers Park.
And now, the San Diego Chargers and Bell Wine Cellars are introducing a limited edition of Chargers Legacy Cabernet Sauvignon just in time for the holiday season. Created from hand-harvested Napa Valley grapes, Chargers Legacy is described as a full-bodied wine with excellent balance and a smooth, inviting and lingering finish. The new three-bottle collection features all three vintages of Chargers Legacy – 2008, 2009 and 2010.
A great holiday gift idea for any die-hard Chargers fan and the perfect complement to a festive holiday dinner party, the Chargers Legacy Cabernet Sauvignon three-bottle collection is available in limited quantity for a limited time. There are 200 sets available for $90 each, and each order comes with a complimentary 2011 Chargers Yearbook. For more information and to place an order, call 707.944.1673 or visit chargers.com.
