The New Children's Museum is planning for a night of inspiration and stylish fun at its inaugural Think, Play, Create - The Gala, to be held on Saturday, October 11.
A traditional fundraiser with calm music, sophisticated dining and accompanying silent auction this event surely is not. Exploring the theme "think-play-create," the gala encourages guests to let their inner child run free at this new state-of-the-art educational facility. There will be interactive dining complete with performance art and a Hot Donut bar, a Legway race on the AEG Live Plaza, an open-air concert by legendary rock stars Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, and a premier lounge that will set the stage for guests to enjoy after-hours cocktails, including Jell-o shots, while dancing into the evening.
Proceeds from Think, Play, Create - The Gala will support art education programs across San Diego County and will help launch the Museum's 2009 exhibition focused on the interaction between human and animal worlds.
The New Children's Museum is a non-profit facility funded by memberships and community support and empowers children to think, play and create with interactive exhibitions, hands-on projects, and in-depth classroom experiences. With art programs being eliminated in the public school system, The New Children's Museum is filling a critical void for art education of all ages throughout San Diego. Located in Downtown's Marina district, the environmentally savvy building is also one of the first "green" museums in California.
Think, Play, Create - The Gala will be held on October 11th at the Museum, located at 200 West Island Avenue, San Diego, 92101. Dinner begins at 5pm. Ticket prices range from $75 (after-hours only), to well into the thousands for group dinner rates. Insider Tip: No rubber chicken, no black tie, no silent auction. This is not your typical gala - not even close. Let loose and get ready to have fun, for a good cause, this October.
