It’s the middle of summer. The Padres are on a long road trip, and the giant HD flat screens in the nearest sports bar just don’t do the trick.
Fret no more. The Padres stars of tomorrow are just 60 minutes away in Lake Elsinore, where the Single-A minor-league affiliate Storm play. For only $10 a ticket, enjoy excellent box seats close to the action in an intimate 6,000 seat state-of-the-art ballpark known as The Diamond. Where else can you experience promotions like:
July 5 – Thirsty Thursday/College Night Toga Party
July 22 – Birthday celebration for team mascot Thunder and a Thunder Soap Dispenser giveaway
Aug. 5 – Toothbrush giveaway (Aug. 5)
In addition, six Fireworks promotion nights remain on the schedule.
So you’ve seen a few “Bad News Bears” movies and don’t feel Single-A ball is up to your standards. Consider this: in a recent interview, Padres GM Kevin Towers stated that some of the best talent in the Padres minor league system is at Lake Elsinore. In fact, the Storm sent an unprecedented six players to this year’s All-Star Game where they made major contributions to the California League’s victory.
The Storm’s winning record this season is due in part to such “players to watch” as pitchers Manny Ayala and Wade Leblanc and sluggers Matt Antonelli, Kyle Blanks, and Chad Huffman. Lake Elsinore is also where you may find Padres veterans like Brian Giles on a rehab assignment.
What are you waiting for? Check out Storm Baseball for schedule, tickets, and directions.
