We're so busy these days we need to multitask in every aspect of our lives. Doing three or four things at once is no longer relegated to the office go-getter. Going out for drinks after work is nice, but you could be much more productive.
Why not grab a drink while taking in some culture, listening to a great band, viewing some art or getting some digits? The monthly Tower After Hours program at the Museum of Man in Balboa Park is building a reputation as a solid cultural social event where all of these things are not only found but may, in some cases, be thrust upon you.
This month, on Thursday, March 28th, the museum will open its doors to the community in celebration of all things Peruvian, which is coming from and pertaining to the South American country of Peru. Expect to enjoy live Andean music performed by the musical group Tinku. The dance group Peruvian Folklore will entertain guests with its vibrant and vivid dancing. Authentic cuisine will be prepared by the House of Peru (of Balboa Park's International Cottages), and will feature Pisco Sour, a colorful and delicious Peruvian cocktail.
General admission for Tower After Hours is $20 for adults; $15 for college students, military (with valid ID), and seniors (62+); $10 for youth (13-17); and $5 for children age three and over. Special rates apply to Museum of Man members: adults pay $10; college students, military, and seniors pay $7.50; youth (13-17) pay $5; and children age three and over pay $2.50. Children under 3 are admitted free of charge.
Tower After Hours is slated to run from 6-8pm. Fortunately it usually goes a little late since they routinely see hundreds pass through the doors. The expressed purpose of these festive monthly events is to celebrate San Diego's rich ethnic diversity by immersing guests in the sights, sounds and tastes of the different cultures featured. Upcoming Tower events will feature China, Germany, and Portugal.
